General Duties Flight – Front of House Receptionist – E2 Post I.D – 14 – Odiham

The General Duties Flight – Front of House Receptionist is a permanent, part-time E2 post (25 hours per week) working alongside regular RAF, Army and Civil Servant personnel as part of a team in a busy office located in the Main Guard Room at RAF Odiham. The Team provides a wide range of administrative support services to the RAF Chinook Helicopter Force in the UK, overseas and on military operations worldwide.

The primary role is the administration and delivery of front of house reception services and to provide excellent customer service, value-added support and advice to all visiting and regular station personnel by answering queries in person, by phone or email. Much of the work is routine, process-driven and well defined following established processes.

The work is accomplished using MOD Security Management System (Strategic Imaging Systems SISYS) and the Microsoft Office suite of productivity tools on the MODNet including SharePoint. Experience using Excel applications is highly desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. Good IT skills and a general experience of office processes are essential to enable the successful candidate to work at the required rate. Similarly, the ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken work is a primary requirement. The ability to work accurately and comply with standards such as Data Protection Act and electronic ways of working are essential as data input and maintenance of Microsoft Excel registers are a significant part of the job.

Although an E2 post, the nature of the job and small size of the Front of House Reception Team requires that the successful applicant demonstrates flexibility, adaptability and the capacity to maintain a consistent high level of output. The Post is supervised however, a high level of autonomy is required as the incumbent will be tasked dynamically to deliver priorities over a wide range of tasks during the working day. The diverse range of activities that the team supports requires the ability to learn new skills and to find information from source documents. Consequently, this is a challenging and rewarding E2 post at the higher end of the spectrum, with the opportunity for developing and gaining valuable new experience.

Responsibilities As you will be providing a service to hundreds of personnel at RAF Odiham, you will need to have excellent communication skills. You will also need to use computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, however, full training will be given. Behaviours
